Basecamp Not Working Correctly In Windows 11 (This Might Help)

I was having issues with Windows 11 with my devices and not showing the high res maps in Basecamp off the devices or Map installed in Garmin folder loaded to Basecamp would not show high res even though it is in the "Maps" drop down. This advice might help most. You need to do a clean install by removing anything related to Garmin from Windows 11 b/c even when you uninstall it will not uninstall all folders or files. 1. Start with "Uninstalling All Garmin Software Programs e.g. Basecamp, MapInstall, Garmin Express" 2. Go to "Windows Explorer" and remove any folders with the name Garmin. They are usually in "Program" folders and most likely "User" folder. 3. Go to the Registry Editor: Type "regedit" in the search and remove all Garmin folders from any place in the hierarchy. 4. Restart computer. 5. Install Garmin Express, right click and go to Properties>Compatibility> Click Run As Administrator>Click Run this program in compatibility mode and choose Windows 8, apply and open program , if this sees your device then the rest should work. Install Basecamp and other Garmin software repeating last steps.

  • Well before doing any of that the first thing to have checked is the map detail setting in BaseCamp as that is likely to have been set too low if you weren't seeing maps in 'high res' as you put it.

To anyone reading the above I've never found the need to do any of this to resolve an issue with BaseCamp so better to treat the above as a last resort if nothing else helps.
