tracks from Middle East showing timeshift when opened in NZ.

I've seen posts that refer to change the timestamp on photos, but I want to correct the timeestamps of the tracks. Without changing the settings inside windows 10.??

  • Timestamps in your tracks are always stored in Coordinated Universal Time (UTC), regardless from where you are. Changing the timestamps in the track would actually invalidate them.

The program that you are using to view the tracks converts the timestamps automatically using the UTC offset defined in Windows. And yes, it will show apparently wrong timestamps for tracks created in another time zone. It's a limitation of the program you are using, not of the tracks.

  • Thanks for your reply, I thought it might have been something like that. Damn thing is that the photos taken at the same time are geotagged with the timestamp and location of the place it was taken. In the same device. Basecamp is doing the adjustment, but obviously the photo viewer is not.

Looks like I should export the gpx from BC and use GpsBabel to set the offset difference, (about 9hours), then don’t open them in basecamp again. Stay with GE or Maps.

Don’t want to change the PC timezone just for this.

    cheers CD
