Drive 52 - Maximum Number of Way Points

When I go on trips I usually design my route in Base Camp. I mark way pints for the places I want to stop at and then design the route using them.

A while back I read that there is a maximum number of way points allowed for a Drive 52 route. If so, can some one tell me what that is?

Also, am I correct that there is no limit to the number of shaping points (won't alert) that can be used?

29 viapoints, with 125 shaping points between viapoints. If you need to use all of those it would be a very strange route. Best way is to enter the start and end point in BaseCamp. Let it calculate the route. Then rubber band it to force it the way you want to go or insert viapoints or a combination of both.

I've been using the method you for several years. When driving cross country it's pretty easy to get 29 via points. Plus I rarely like the route Garmin decides on. My routes do end up a bit strange.

I only use viapoints when I either know I want to stop there, eg lunch, petrol stop, or just so I have the opportunity to skip part of the route if needed. Everything else is a shaping point.
