Basecamp & Nuvi Sync Issues

Hello

I recently purchased a garmin nuvi 265 WT and have basecamp installed. I also have a 4 GB SD card in the machine... and i've hit a few snags. Now I'm not sure if i'm doing something wrong but I've become fed up with trying to work through the problem.

First: I can't delete anything on the nuvi or memory card from within the basecamp software. I right click, nothing. I go to edit on an address i've added while driving and can't delete it, all greyed out. To boot if i use send to the SD card once it's on there I can't delete it, from the GPS or through the software. I read on another forum somewhere that you can delete the conspicuously named files to get rid of the data, but how do I know what to delete? What if I just want to delete one?

I have tried just about everything I can think of, send from nuvi to my collection, delete the file there, then send back to nuvi, saved address still remains. I would suggest, and had expected, that these features operate as more of a sync setup where pc and device changes coincide while connected.

Second: I want to add addresses offline on the computer instead of tapping a touchscreen. When I search for an address using Edit, Find, then Address near center of map (even when entire city is in view), the nearest hit I get is about 65 Km away. Why can't I add a simple address as a waypoint or POI or whatever it is? It can do it on the nuvi, why not in basecamp?

Third: Metadata for addresses i've already saved. Great on the nuvi, junk on basecamp. Actual address shows up in comments and no phone number entry option for use with my bluetooth feature. Why not seperate fields for these entries?

In summary I really hope someone is able to help with this because I am becoming very frustrated very quickly here. I am very pleased with the quality and interface of the nuvi itself, yet am horribly displeased with quality of the support software. I would have expected more out of it than what I am currently looking at. If these features are present and I am doing something completely wrong I will eat my own words gladly, so long as it is conceded that these features are less than simple and obvious to the end user

Good Evening

Thank you for your feed back on BaseCamp and we are sorry that you are experiencing these issues with the software.

For the first issue unfortunately the nuvi 265T does not support sync capability. After you have sent data to the nuvi, to delete or modify that data, you have to do so on the nuvi. If you have a device that supports this capability, like the Oregon, then you can do what you are describing from BaseCamp with the device connected.

For the second would it be possible to let us know one example address you are having difficulty with? We would also need to know which map product you are using in BaseCamp to find the address in.

Finally, separating out the phone number into its own entry field is an idea we will take a look at for a future version of the application.

The map version that is in basecamp is Global Application Basemap V2, it is the only one that is installed. The address I was trying to find was:

    375 Pine St
    Sault Ste. Marie, ON, CAN

Is there a possibility of a firmware update that will allow control over the nuvi's data from the basecamp software?

The included map is designed only to provide a broad overview for BaseCamp's outdoor/recreation trip planning capabilities. As such it does not contain detailed information for address searching.

I will forward your request for the sync capability to be added to the nuvi line to the responsible group inside Garmin.

Thank you for the assistance and forwarding the suggestions to the appropriate departments. I really like garmin products and think they are of very good quality. I look forward to seeing future developments for these products.

    Again, Thank you
