Designing trips on a PC

I'd like to be able to design trips on my Windows PC, then import them into the Drive 52 for navigation. I've tried Basecamp but it's unusably slow. Is there any alternative Windows software available that would do this job? I've tried creating and importing a .gpx file into the device, but this just creates a bunch of 'favourites' locations, not a single route that can be followed.

Not sure why you find it slow, I create routes in BaseCamp in seconds. What are you doing to create a route?

I simply select start and end point, allow BaseCamp to create a route between the two then 'rubber band' it so it goes the way I want, or if I want specific stops add waypoints as necessary.
