Map Update caused BC to update to 4.7.5.

Data isn't lost when you update BaseCamp but it may not be pointing at the right location. Search in Windows Explorer for AllData.gdb as that is your database assuming you have never set up any others? Once you know where it is set BaseCamp in Edit, Options to select it.

This was a map only update to the device and laptop download. I have never had this happen before.

I have AllData.gbd for 4.3 - 4.4 - 4.5 - 4.6 and now 4.7. Only the one in the 4.6 folder had yesterdays date on it, everything else including the new 4.7 gbd had a 2020 year date and that is what BC was displaying, really old stuff. GARMIN Support didn't know what to do and after trying several things, Karl said your stuff is just gone, there isnt anything else we can do. That caused an abrupt end of the chat.

I took that 4.6 gbd file and tried several times to make it work. About the third try I got a popup windows that said "something is wrong do you want to try and fix it" I said yes and got everything back (I think) in one big long list. I need to sort it out.

If I go back to 4.6.2 version will this same file work with that older version of BC?

I need to move the gbd file somewhere other than the desktop. When I do that I need to re link it again, right?

i don't remember, but did the restore from back-ups or restore from pervious version work when BC was first released,  cause it doesn't now.

Yes, if you move the data location you need to point BaseCamp at it again. Note your data folder/list structure is in a file named Folder.gfi which shoukd be in the same location as your alldata.gdb file. If you can find one that works it'll save you having to sort it all out again.
