third party installation

I purchased a third party map from garminworldmaps.com and it came as an .IMG file.  I just received my new Garmin zumoXT2 and trying to install this map on my new device.

It says basecamp window is not compatible anymore and to use the app tread. the file is on my Windows computer and can not be transferred to the app because it is pretty large too.

any advice/help how to install the gmapsupp.img file to my ZumoXT2?

thank you

  • You don't need BaseCamp (or other apps) for that.

Buy an SD card not bigger than 32GB (but large enough for the img file you bought), create a folder called "map" (without the quotes) and put the img file in that folder. Put the SD card into your zumo and you're ready.

While it is possible to put the img file on the internal memory of the zumo I don't recommend it. Sometimes a third party map can cause the device to hang. That can be solved easily with a map on an SD card by removing it; that's not possible with a map on the internal memory.
