In Garmin Express, I clicked on the icon for my Garmin DriveSmart 66 > Map Details > Install to Computer. I thought this would install the latest map for my DriveSmart 66 to Basecamp but that didn't happen. The latest version according to Basercamp Map Product Manager is City navigator North America NT 2025.1, version 28.10, which seems to have two .img files associated with it, d9644070a.img and d9643070a.img. So instead of installing to computer, I installed directly to the DriveSmart 66. That's when the map showed up in Basecamp Map Product Manager, but as installed to the Device, not to the PC.
(For maps on the device, Map Product Manager shows the path as "c:\users\jimsp\appdata\local\temp\basecamp\usb#vid_091e&pid_4ee9#0000ca657417#{6ac27878-a6fa-4155-ba85-f98f491d4f33}\garmin drivesmart 66\internal storage\.system\map\d9644070a.img". But if it's installed to the PC, Map Product Manager shows the path as "C:\ProgramData\Garmin\Maps\City_Navigator_North_America_NT_2025_10.gmap\Product1\"
But I wanted the map on the PC, not just on the Device, so now I repeated the Garmin Express > Garmin DriveSmart 66 > Map Details > Install to Computer. After doing this the map finally showed up in Map Product Manager along side the maps on the device, with the path "C:\ProgramData\Garmin\Maps\City_Navigator_North_America_NT_2025_10.gmap\Product1\""
But this was a pain, since I did three separate downloads and installs to get this done!
Question, after getting the map on the Device, could I just copy the two img files from \Garmin DriveSmart 66\Internal Storage\.System\Map to the PC, and then run something to get it installed on the PC? I see that the folder "C:\ProgramData\Garmin\Maps\City_Navigator_North_America_NT_2025_10.gmap\Product1\"" has a bunch of subfolders with 8 digit names, and the img files on the device are not on my PC. So unfortunately it's not as simple as copying an img file from the device to somewhere on the PC.
And .. .since the img files don't appear to be anywhere on the PC (according to my Everything file search utility), how does Basecamp install the map to the device?
