When sending routes to GPS OTR1010 through basecamp, GPS stays on the loading screen. Any reason why?

I have been working on figuring out a way to route custom trips and figured out that if we get a Garmin and Basecamp it should work theoretically. The problem i have been coming against that I cannot seem to find an solution around for yet is that when I send a route to the GPS through basecamp, it goes to this updating screen and it stay there for hours on end. I was able to port 1 trip over and that was when I left the GPS connected over the weekend so I'm not sure how long that updating screen was on for during that time.

To give you a background, I ship wide load sheds across the east coast and we need to have a gsp system the follows permitting routes for state regulations. That is the reason for this undertaking. What is causing the GPS to keep updating and what could I be doing wrong? I did a simple route and even that will not port over.

Update: i left it on overnight and it still send updating this mornig. I unplugged the Gps and when i checked route planner, the route was there. Tried the route and it worked. I created 2 more mock routes that also worked, even thought the GPS keeps saying updating, i just unplug it when when basecamp states that the file has been exported. so did I fix my problem yes, does it explain why it stay on the loading screen? NO. but its working now.
