CNNA2024.2 not finding any address

Sorry.  I posted this in the Express category by mistake.

I recently downloaded 2024.2 but had not tried to use it until today.  What is happening is that it fails to find any address searched.

I can select 2024.1 or 2023.2 and all works well.  I tried 2024.2 from both the PC and the device (Montana 600) with no luck. It just spins

for some time and then shows "No Results Found".  I've completely removed 2024.2 and reinstalled with no help.

Anyone else run into something like this?  Any ideas?

  • I'm slightly confused by the issue here, is it both on the device and BaseCamp? Did you use Express to install the map to your PC for BaseCamp to use?

I'm not seeing any issues with the 2024.20 map. Is it possible you haven't installed the full NA map and you're searching for addreses outside the map area?

(FYI I've deleted your post in the Express forum)

  • Yeah, sorry. I wasn't very clear about what's happening.  I have 2024.2 installed on both my Montana 600 and also on my desktop.  Searching for an address works fine on the Montana with 2024.2 enabled.  Searching for anything using Basecamp on the desktop fails to find anything using either the 2024.2 map installed on the desktop or the maps installed on the Montana.  I had used Javawa device manager to make the device maps visible to Basecamp.

I still have 2024.1 installed on both the device and desktop. Searching works fine on both.

I assume this is some issue with BC on my desktop but I've never seen this before and I've used BC since it was introduced.

I think I have installed the full map. I just let Express install the 2024.2 update.  When I look at the map display it looks pretty similar whether I have 2024.1 or .2 selected.  It's definitely not just the base map. I see all the towns and roads around me. For a test I tried searching for my address that I can see on the 2024.2 map display - no joy.

Maybe a reinstall of BC is next although I can't image why BC would care which map is selected.

  • To add further to this issue I just tried this on my laptop (windows 11 updated) and have the same issue. I can find things with 2024.1 but not 2024.2. Both display fully detailed maps of my area set on highest setting.   ???

  • Can you give me an address you can't find?

  • Sure. 117 N Main St, Lenoir, NC 28645

    Should be the 1841 Cafe

  • With all these addresses less is more where BaseCamp is concerned. If you type N Main St, Lenoir in the search box you get a list of addresses on Main Street, nearest to 117 is 200.

  • I understand that but my issue is that with 2024.1 I get a list of addresses. With 2024.2 I get nothing. With 2024.2 I get "No Results Found" in any category.

With 2024.1 I get a list of addresses starting with 117 Main St NW then 117 Main St SW,  and three more entries. I can hit the "Find more items" and get 15-20 more addresses. With 2024.2 all there is nothing. Hitting the Find more does nothing. The list is always blank.

I've been using BC for about 13 years so I'm fairly familiar with how it works.

  • Hmmm ... I'm getting the list and if I hit Find more items the list expands. Perhaps try uninstalling then reinstalling BaseCamp

  • BC removed and installed with no change. I also cleared out the ProductDataChache.  I'm beginning to think there is something changed with the map that BC doesn't like.  I've almost always searched for an address using the simple search box in the upper right. That's what's not working for me.  If I use Search Options and select address, fill out the data fields and click Search it will bring up that address and take me there if I click on it. If I pick other categories like food & drink it will give me a long list of restaurants.

If I use the Search Options I can generally find anything I'm looking for.  The only thing that isn't working is using the simple Search Box and using the magnifying glass.

    Weird.

  • OK, more odd stuff.  I think that the only thing that doesn't work is an actual address entered in the simple search box.  If I enter something like "Cracker Barrel" or "Wendy's" or the name of another chain restaurant it will produce a list. If I use the address from one of the restaurants on the list then nothing.
