Marine maps won't show in Basecamp from my gpsmap 267cx

When I connect my 276cx to Basecamp (both Mac and Windows), my marine maps doesn't show. I have two other maps that shows (European road and Norwegian outdoor). Anyone had similar issues?

  • Hi Jon, try using Garmin Homeport.  Hmm, maybe not - I just went to get a link for you and can see it's discontinued - replaced by ActiveCaptain: https://support.garmin.com/en-NZ/?faq=g52jIchoB75fM270xn4Sx6

  • This issue could be caused by a few different factors. Here are some steps you can take to troubleshoot the problem:

    1. Check Map Compatibility: Ensure that the marine maps you're trying to display are compatible with Basecamp and your GPS device. Some maps may not be compatible with certain software versions.

    2. Map Installation: Confirm that the marine maps are correctly installed on your GPS device. Sometimes, maps may not display if they are not properly installed or if there's a corruption in the map file.

    3. Map Priority: Basecamp may prioritize certain maps over others. You should check the map list within Basecamp to ensure that the marine maps are enabled and have a higher priority than other maps.

    4. Map Visibility: In Basecamp, go to the "Maps" menu and make sure that the marine maps are checked in the list of available maps. If they're unchecked, they won't be displayed.

    5. Map Display Options: In Basecamp, try adjusting the map display options to see if the marine maps become visible. You can do this by going to the "View" menu and selecting "Show/Hide" to customize which maps are displayed.

    6. Map Updates: Ensure that the marine maps are up-to-date. Outdated maps may not display properly in Basecamp.

    7. Software/Firmware Updates: Make sure that both Basecamp and your GPS device (GPSMAP 267cx) have the latest software/firmware updates. Sometimes, compatibility issues can be resolved with updates.

    8. Map Format: Verify that the marine maps are in a format that Basecamp and your GPS device support. Different devices may require specific map formats.

    9. Map Regions: Some maps are divided into regions or tiles. Ensure that you have selected the correct region in Basecamp to display the marine maps.

Remember to always back up your data before making any major changes to your device or software. This way, you can restore it in case something goes wrong during troubleshooting.

  • The reason I suggested HomePort is because BlueChart marine maps that display just fine in MapSource will not display at all in BaseCamp.  I had to install HomePort years ago in order to see the BlueCharts.
