Can't see "City Navigator North America NT 2024.1" on my connected XT in Basecamp.

I've got an XT connected to a Windows 10 system with a USB cable.  When I run Basecamp (version 4.7.5)  it sees my XT which shows up on the left side of the screen under devices.  8 maps are visible.  The first two are "City Navigator North America NT 2024.1".  The next 2 start out like this: "CN North America NT ...".  When I press "Maps" in Basecamp "City Navigator North America NT 2024.1" does not show up.  The first 2 maps that show in the list start out like this: "CN North America NT ...".  In Basecamp when press "Maps->Manage Map Products" I get a list of 9 maps which includes all 8 from the XT plus "Global Map".  My question is Why doesn't "City Navigator North America NT 2024.1" show in in the list of maps on Basecamp?  Since it doesn't show in the list I can't use it to plan routes.

  • Difficult to say without seeing the full list on both your device in Settings, Map&Vehicle, myMaps and the list in BaseCamp but maps can be called different things in BaseCamp.  Provided the map selected in BaseCamp is something like CN NA 2024.1 you should be fine.  In any case your best bet is to use Express to install the map to your PC as otherwise BaseCamp can only see the North or South NA map at any one time whereas Express will install a complete map making planning routes across the North/South divide so much easier.

  • Here is a list of all 8 maps on my XT (viewed from the XT Settings->Map&Vehicle->myMaps)(They have check marks in front of them):

    1. North America DEM;

    2. CN North America NT 2024.10 ALL Canada & Mexico

    3. CN North America NT 2024.10 ALL US

    4. TopoActive PS NA US 2022.20

    5. TopoActive PS NA Middle America 2022.20

    6. CN North America NT 2024.10 Foursquare

    7. National Parks v2

    8. CN North America NT 2024.10 Parkopedia

Here is a list of all 7 maps in Basecamp (Maps):

    1. CN North America NT 2024.10 Foursquare

    2. CN North America NT 2024.10 Parkopedia

    3. Global Map

    4. National Parks v2

    5. North America DEM

    6. TopoActive PS NA Middle America 2022.20

    7. TopoActive PS NA US 2022.20

Using Basecamp I can look at maps on my connected XT under Devices->Zumo XT.  I see these 8 maps:

    1. City Navigator North America NT 2024.1

    2. City Navigator North America NT 2024.1

    3. CN North America NT 2024.10 Foursquare

    6. North America DEM

    7. TopoActive PS NA Middle America 2022.20

    8. TopoActive PS NA US 2022.20

Using Basecamp I can get this list of these 9 maps by clicking Maps->Manage Map Products and looking under the "Map Product Information" tab:

    1. City Navigator North America NT 2024.1

    2. City Navigator North America NT 2024.1

    3. CN North America NT 2024.10 Foursquare

Here is the puzzler:  A few days ago, maybe 5 days, on Basecamp, when I went to Maps and I tried to select "City Navigator..." Basecamp would give me a message that it had a version of that map already installed in Basecamp and that the program would work better if I would use Basecamp's installed version of the map rather than the map on my connected XT.  Today, I can't select "City Navigator..." because it is no longer in the list (under Maps)  at all. That map was the one that showed me the detail I need to see the street I live on in San Diego.  In the last few days a new version (4.7.5) of Basecamp was available so installed it.  Not sure if my "problem" began before or after I installed version 4.7.5.

  • Ok, some of those 'maps' aren't relevant to BaseCamp, Foursquare are POIs and Parkopedia is parking. DEM is the digital elevation model. Problem appears to be that since the BaseCamp update you've lost the CN NA 2024.10 map that was previously installed to your PC. Why that has happened I can't say, but the simple solution is to use Garmin Express and reinstall it to your PC.

  • I want to thank you for your help.  I did use Garmin Express to install the map on my PC.  It worked and I can now see the "City Navigator North America NT 2024.1" on basecamp when I press the Maps button.

I'm still puzzled as to why Basecamp couldn't use the "City Navigator North America NT 2024.1" from the connected XT when it could use the other maps from the connected XT but I suppose that falls into the "who cares" category.

  • Glad it's resolved. I'll close this thread.
