Garmin 2595 When loading BC Route to Device it brings in extra old way points to the device that are from other routes which are not in BC or on the Device

Need Help Guys, I've been successfully making custom Routes for many years with my Garmin LMT2595 GPS, After some Software updates it appears I now have issues.  Using  Windows 11.1 OS PC, Garmin BaseCamp (BC) Version 4.7.5, Map: 2015.30,

Symptom:  With the Device clear of ALL Routes and Way points (WP), and BC clear of all routes and WPs except for the route to be loaded to the device (also Tried several old routes that worked great in the past) When I load the route from BC to the Devices External Memory Card (8GB Micro) via BC, then disconnect the Device from BC and now power up the device to check the route install, the device Trip Planner looks correct but the saved WPs is flooded with many many extra WPs from old routes that are not on the device Nor are they on BC.  These extra WPs were from older maps I made in the past.  How are they getting on the device?.     I tried everything, I've learned alot over the years with this unit and its' quirks, looks to me like there is a corrupted file on the device that is somehow combining some of the internal history or user data that you can Not clear via device buttons.   appreciate any help

Additional Note:I have 2 LapTops, 2 cables and 2 Garmin 2595s with different maps and BC versions that were working great until the update and now I'm having the issues on both LapTops and Devices   Both devices appear corrupted    The devices never gave me this trouble until the recent upgrade to the device and BC

  • Additional Trouble Shoot Info:

Using only the Dirt GPS I Cleared all the Trip Planner Routes and Saved WPs in the Device, then using the Windows 11 LapTop I cleared all Lists, Routes and WPs from Basecamp (BC), then I saved all the Folders from the Device to the LapTop Hard Drive (HD) then deleted all the Folders in the Device Internal Memory except for the Folders I felt the Device would need to operate, I did Not remove the Dashboard, Garmin and GPX Folders, I Opened BC and loaded a GPX file from the LapTop HD into BC, loaded the route from BC onto the device and it still failed the same.

I tried re-updating BC on the Windows 11 LapTop and the Maps installed on the Street GPS, and it still fails the same.

    Some thoughts:

I’m wondering if this bug is Not in the GPX files on the LapTop HD but instead now on both BC and the device and I need to remove and delete BC from the LapTops and also clear the devices, then re install BC onto the LapTops and then try it?

I am going to send you some GPX files, depending on your experience with them will determine what direction I need to go to fix this, If you find the GPX files are good, Not corrupted and work good, then maybe I should consider re-installing BC on the Laptops?   Keep in mind you have 2 Laptops and 2 Devices with different Softwares installed, so I suspect what may have happened is the Device with the Corrupt files in it which was gotten first from the Windows 11 LapTop BC then when the device was connected to the Windows 8 LapTop must have corrupted the Windows 8 LapTop BC as well.   Also keep in mind that the GPX files saved to each Laptop are on different HDs, so I do Not think you are going to find that the GPX files are corrupted.

I will be sending you a “Short Rides TS" GPX File with 1 BC List comprising of 2 Routes and WPs in it.   Let me know how you make out and what you think is the source of my trouble, thanks

How do I attach the GPX file, or do you have an email I can send it to?

  • I did try uninstalling all Garmin Software (SW) from the LapTop, and then reinstalled BC on the LapTop and it still fails  Wish I could uninstall everything from the Device and  Reinstall it versus only being able to update the SW and Maps installed on the device, unless you know if is there's a way to do this?   I do worry about turning this device into a brick, lol

  • I resolved the issue with all the extra Home WPs, it’s all good now, but I still have one other annoyance, it appears that sometime after the BC update I did, that now when you import an old saved GPX List from my HD, that BC now inserts the list title into every WP in the Category tab, which were not there before the update, and this is causing all those extra added List titles in the Saved WPs on the device.   Note, If I make a brand new route from scratch on BC, save it to my LapTop HD, Delete it from BC, then retrieve it back from the HD onto BC, all the 58 WPs that I used to make that route do Not have anything in any of the WP Categories hence I do not get the extra list title in the saved WPs on the device.    So any new routes I make are perfect but using any of  my old saved routes on list GPX files I will have to deal with the extra list titles in saved WPs, Is there anyway to stop BC from adding the list titles to all the WP Categories?

  • Glad we were able to resolve your first issue. I've never tried what you doing, ie importing an old saved list, but have you tried simply deleting the category in the waypoint properties? Unless you have hundreds it shouldn't take too long

  • Resolved:
Fixed it!!  Apparently somehow on both LapTops, ALL old saved GPX files on my HDs were altered, I'm assuming somehow through SW upgrades performed, even though the Old Laptop did Not get any upgrades, anyway what happens is when you import and old saved GPX file into BC it now has associated list titles in each WP under the categories tab, which in turn when loaded from BC onto the device, creates extra WP lists in the saved WPs on the device.  But it only altered the Old saved GPX files, it does Not alter any newly created Lists/Routes/ WPs that are saved as GPX files onto the HD.  Very strange, the list titles actually belong under the references tab only, not the categories tab, so the simplest way I could figure out how to resolve this is to import the List GPX file from the HD into BC, then select all the WPs, right click and select open, select the categories tab of the grouped WPs and deleted all the list titles that are in there, now none of the individual WPs should have anything in its' categories tab, then export the list to the HD where the original List was stored and it will ask you if you want to over-write and replace the file, select yes and now you should be good to go the next time you import it into BC.   Do the same for any of your GPX files that were saved to your HD and exhibit this symptom

  • Great. Seems like your issues are now resolved so I'll close this thread. Look forward to further posts if you have any other problems
