A small glitch in my route

I'm starting to get the hang of making routes in Basecamp BUT.........

I'm working on a route for the Blue Ridge Parkway from north to south starting at Waynesboro, VA. and ending in Cherokee, NC. Base camp wants me to take route 81 south from Waynesboro. Using Alt and dragging a point to the BRP I was able to create a route that follows the BRP. The glitch is one of my points landed just off the Parkway and the route shows to leave the Parkway for approximately 1500 feet, turn around and return to the Parkway. Is there anyway to delete this point that I created? Basecamp did not create a waypoint for any of these Alt & drag points.

Thanks for any clarifications

  • There are two tools that can help.  One is the Move Point tool, the other is the Erase tool.  They are only available when a route is active.

With the Move Point tool you can grab a point and drag it onto the road.  The easiest way to do the is to double click on the route name so that the window containing its list of points is open.  At the bottom of the window as a "Center on map" option.  Make sure that is ticked.  Now, when you tick on any point in that list, it will show zoomed in on the map.  You can then zoom in closer to insure that the point is placed exactly on the road, and in the correct lane for any divided roads.

The Erase tool is exactly that.  When it is enabled, hovering over a point will allow you to click on it to remove it.

BTW, you have an awesome ride ahead of you.  I am in North Carolina and have ridden the full length of the Blue Ridge Parkway and Skyline Drive a couple of times.
