Basecamp Find Options

In Find, Find Options, Points of Interest, Lodging the only subcategory I have is Campground / RV Park. I need to find Motels. I'm using the City Navigator North America NT 2023.1 map. What am I doing wrong? Is there something in the settings that I have turned off?

Thanks for any help

Charlie

  • Try clearing the cache C:\Users\<User>\AppData\Local\Garmin\BaseCamp\ProductDataCache

See this old thread that gives more detail forums.garmin.com/.../missing-find-options-in-basecamp

  • This is a recurring problem for me.  I have been using BaseCamp for just under 3 years and have had to clear the cache 4 times.  I don't have a clue what causes the problem.

  • My problem is the POI does not list all the items marked on the map.  Sometimes there are over 25 items marked on the map but only 2 or 3 are in the list.   I refresh many times but get different number to list but very seldom does it fill up like it used to.

  • Me too.  I have not found a solution.  I just repeatedly reposition the map or adjust its zoom and then refresh the list.  After several attempts I will close the search and try again.

  • Refreshing isn't the answer, you need to tap on the 3 dots,  that expands the search area. Sometimes you can click on it twice and get a second expansion.

  • It is not about expanding the search area.  Right now I can see 49 balloons but can not get more than 18 of them listed in the "Showing Results" list (5 refreshes).  Expanding the search area results in at least 109 balloons but only 75 are listed.  At that point you have to do a refresh to reduce the number of hits to only those in the map area (back to 49), but now only 7 are listed.  All 49 were listed after 2 more refreshes.

  • I'm not sure you understand SUSSAMB's reply.  From your reply, I think your are showing more area in the map window.  In the Results window there is a line that reads "Showing Results".  On the far right of that line is a curved arrow to Refresh.  To the left of that arrow are three dots ···.  Clicking on those three dots should "Find More Items".

I'll admit that it can be a little quirky.  Sometimes it can cycle back to showing just a few items if you keep clicking on it.  In my version of BaseCamp it seems to work best if you click on the the three dots after the initial results.  Or, if you've done a basic search, click on the "More", then the three dots.

For example, click on the search Magnifying Icon with nothing entered.  Then click on More on the Points of Interest Line.  Then click on those three dots.

The Refresh function should be used when you change the view in the map window by panning or changing locations (i.e the center point of the map changes), and changing the Category or Sub-Category.

  • I'm not seeing that. Mine always match and the list is fully populated. Which map are you searching?  Can you say where the map is centred and what you enter in the search box, I'll try to replicate the issue

  • I'm packing up to get back on the road.  I will come back to this first chance I get.

  • I am using map 2024.1.  Once in a while when I first open Basecamp the list will match the bubbles, but 99% of the time I only get 3-10 in the list with over 50 Bubbles on the map.  This happens no matter where I have the map centered all across the country.  I do not remember this happening last year.  I have been using Basecamp for 15 yrs.   It aslo does not change hitting the refresh or the 3 dots to expand search
