Astro 320 device isn't recognized by BaseCamp.

I am running:

an Astro 320 GPS (software v 4.60)

Garmin Basecamp (v.4.4.0)

gmnusb.sys (v. 2.3.1.0)

Garmin Express (v. 7.16.1.0)

Running Windows 11 Pro (antivirus and firewall are both disabled, and then computer rebooted with them in the 'off' position for all of this)

I have the Astro 320 + DC50 dog tracking collars and also a Drive 52.  (The Drive 52 works OK for map/software updates on the same system and same Garmin USB cable).

The Astro 320 is 'device not found' by either Basecamp, the Map Installer app, or Garmin Express.

I have already tried 2 different Garmin USB cables.

After many attempts the Astro 320 was found by Garmin Express, but then Garmin Express tried to install the Map Updater which failed with the "can't connect to server" error, even with the antivirus and firewall off.

However, the Astro 320 powers on and goes to USB mode when I plug in the USB cable to the computer  AND  I can put the Astro 320 into basestation-mode and the Astro 320 is found as a basestation by Base Camp, but I cannot access the device or maps (get Device not Found error), even though the GPS is feeding position data.

Sometimes I hear a low-high tone sequence followed 3 seconds later by the high-low (reverse) tone sequence, when I am searching for the device, but the Astro 320 isn't getting found.

Anyone have a solution or experience with this situation?  Anything special settings needed in the Astro 320 to get it to connect?
