BaseCamp takes forever (5 minutes) before Fenix 6 initializes to download routes to device

Hello,

I am noticing that it takes roughly five minutes for BaseCamp and my Fenix 6 to initialize before I am able to download new routes to the watch. When I try to send to device the watch is not listed, and I just have to wait until it's ready.

Thoughts on how to resolve?

That's normally caused by BaseCamp having to index any maps on a device. Provided it completes that it should then connect almost immediately. It can also be caused by your PC being slow to recognise your device.

Is that a one time indexing or every time the device is connected? I set it up on BaseCamp 2 weeks ago, and had the phone connected for several hours during that first setup.

One time, until you install another or updated map.
