Arrow pointing N does not stay locked in N up position

I want the arrow, that points direction, to stay in the North up position. I am not using the direction spinner wheel. I use ctrl N to get the arrow pointing North but as I move around the map with the hand the arrow moves. It will not stay locked North up. Has anyone a solution for this? I've got my software updated to the latest version and I am using the most up to date map, not the global map.

You can set it to remain north up in options, mine never moves.

The only "options" I see is in the Edit drop down menu. I've looked over everything in that options selection and see nothing for setting the arrow to remain north up. Can you provide further information?

When in the hand mode the right mouse button will rotate the map but the left button shouldn't. If it is rotating with the left mouse button then I would test with a different mouse to rule out a problem with the mouse.

View, Map Controls, Off ... if that is set using the hand arrow normally the map should remain locked to north, but as Peobody has pointed out if you click on the right rather than left button it will rotate the map. His suggestion about checking for a faulty mouse, or perhaps one set up incorrectly, may resolve your issue.

Unfortunately, locking the view doesn't prevent it from moving with the 'right click' hand. As I use the 'right click menu' a LOT, I frequently have to realign the view. In this stage of the game (no foreseen development on Basecamp), I just deal with it and work on, giving he N a quick click to realign.

That's the way it's meant to work, but in over 10 years of BaseCamp use I've never inadvertently moved the view when using right click.
