exporting a Garmin basecamp .gpx file into an Indian Ride Command

My Indian Ride Command mapping software is unable to import a garmin produced .gpx file (e.g. basecamp). It simply doesn't recognize it. The same is true going the otherway, when I try to load a .gpx file generated in my Indian Ride command mapping software into basecamp. It simply doesn't recognize it. What gives? I thought a .gpx file was a .gpx file was a .gpx file were all the same. Am I doing something wrong? Any Ideas on how to fix this or a work around?

It would help if you attached samples of both gpx files produced by basecamp and the indian, so someone can have a look and compare them, and potentially find the issue.

I have been having the same issue. I have used basecamp for years without trouble on my 2018 Indian RM, Even though it sees the file as a .gpx file I get an "import error" . It still works fine with mi 2020 Indian Challenger.

Not all gpx files are the same unfortunately. The format allows for additions to be made and those can cause issues. Difficult to say what the issue is in this case but as tmk2 suggests if you attach files here someone may be able to help.

Given Garmin’s longstanding place in the world of GPS, I am more suspicious of Indian’s approach of handling GPX files. It’s more Indian’s job to create files that work. It’s not likely many people here are going to be familiar when how to get things to work on Indian software. So, it might be more fair to talk to them (but doing that isn’t likely to get very far).

There are two types (that probably concern us here) of GPX: track (list of lots of points) and route (list of way points). Some devices want one or the other.
