New Route, Waypoint, Track not working v4.7.4

I see several previous posts on this topic and I have tried every single suggestion.  I cannot tell you how many times I have uninstalled, turned off my computer, and reinstalled every aspect of my Garmin install including Garmin USB Drivers, Garmin Express, and Garmin Basecamp. I also manually deleted the leftover user\appdata turds before reinstalling and am still unable to use these commands; no dialog box pops up.

I'm using Windows 10, current version.  I AM able to create a NEW TRIP so I'm not totally out of commission but this issue is having me pulling out my hair!  Yes, I may be OCD and cannot accept defeat...

  • How are you trying to create this new data? Do you have the new route, waypoint etc icons showing in the toolbar at the top?

Yes, I have icons in the toolbar and I've also tried using the File>New>Route from the menu bar.  Command is NOT grayed out but no dialog box appears.

  • This can happen if in the past you've closed that box by selecting the 'Don't show this again' . There is a way to get it back but it involves editing the registry. One other way of creating a route would be to create a start and end point and then select those and choose 'create route from selected points' option, but you say you can't create new waypoints either?

Sorry for the delay in replying, been away.  I appreciate your assistance with this.  I am able to create new waypoints and I have used the method you describe, among others, to create new routes.  I am still able to use the software effectively but the issue described just keeps annoying and nagging at me!  I'd love to know the registry entry that toggles that selector.  I am very comfortable using REGEDIT.

  • Try Edit, Options, General, Reset as I understand that will now do it. If it doesn't I'll try to find the regedit needed

That solved it.  Thank you very much.  Everything is now working the way I'm accustomed to.  I am grateful to you and hope to be able to "pay it forward" in the future.  Pleasant navigating...
