Unable to delete track on GPSMap 66sr

When I connect the GPS to my PC there is a track/activity I can see in Basecamp from before I bought the GPS. I think it's a track from the factory, because it's in Taiwan.

When I delete it through Basecamp it reappears when I reconnect the GPS. I've searched via File Explorer but can't find any .fit or .gpx files, except for the ones I made myself. I also looked on the GPS itself under tracks, activities, way points, ... but I'm unable to locate that track.

You can see the track in the screenshot. The track is from 30 June 2022, but I bought it on 24 July 2022.

Does anyone have an idea where I can find this track and delete it?

I suspect that Basecamp is showing you an activity from a FIT file which cannot be deleted from your device using BaseCamp. You can deleted it so it is removed from BaseCamp for the current connection with your device, but it will reappear when you next reconnect your device as you have found.

You should be able to EITHER remove the activity directly on the device: Recorded Activities > Select > (Menu) Delete OR use File Explorer and go to the device \Gamin\Activities folder where you should find the offending file named 2022-06-30 08.27.34.fit which you can delete.

That's what I already tried. That track is not showing under Recorded Activities or anywhere else and not in \Garmin\Activities or any other folder.

Okay. You could try a Master Reset after saving any data you want to keep from your device. If that doesn’t work then you could try reinstalling the firmware (5.50), but maybe try Garmin support first: [email protected]. The GPSrChive webmaster uses a 66sr personally, so worth posting on the device forum there as I suggested.

I did post on gpsrchive as you suggested. There is someone with a 700i that has the same problem. He suspects Explore sync. But I can't remember if I have ever used that.
