Is it safe to delete all data from GPSMAP 86s device

Using BaseCamp ver 4.74 with Garmin GPSMAP 86s. I have all data 9separated by areas) saved in BaseCamp in a folder called Fishing Areas. I am thinking that if I only load the area that I plan to fish on a particular day, that the GPS will read more quickly. Is this the case?

If the above is true then it seems most efficient to delete all data from the GPS internal storage in order to load only the area planned to fish from BaseCamp.

I have already manually backed up all info in BaseCamp. I am relatively new to BaseCamp and don't want to create a catastrophe by losing all info.

Depends on how much data. Unless you're experiencing long start up delays I wouldn't bother, but deleting data on your device doesn't delete it from BaseCamp.

When Garmin reads a BirdsEye map, does it look at only a single tile or so, or does it deal with the entire image which may include 75 or more tiles?

Your post is confusing. Are you talking about maps, so BirdsEye Select, or images, as you use both terms.

I am referring to Bird’s Eye maps.

Then if it's a map its selectable like any map.
