I planned a route through France which is approx. 590 km long. Part of the route uses toll-free highways, The majority of the route is along "departementales" (secondary roads).
Setting for all plans: motorcycle - shortest route. Setting shouldn't really matter too much because I forced BC go on and off highways using extra via points anyway.
Plan 1: using Map City Navigator Europe NTU 2022.2. Distance: 587 km. Travel time: 12 H 21 min.
Plan 2: using Map Openstreetmap Freizeitkarte France edition March 2022. Travel Time: 10 H 10 min.
The discrepancy is more than 2 hours for exactly the same route. Does anyone know which estimated travel time is the most realistic?
Just out of curiosity I imported my GPX in TomTom MyDrive. And TomTom comes up with an estimation of 8H 33 min!
I can understand that different maps and different route planners will produce somewhat different time estimations. But 2 hours for the same route using the same planning software just because the map is another one? Doesn't make sense to me. And then about 4 hours difference between Basecamp and TomTom for exactly the same route? That's really off the chart.
I plan to drive there a couple of weeks from now, and then I will find out which planning is the most accurate, but meanwhile I'd like to hear from experienced users what to expect. I don't want to arrive at my hotel way past latest check-in time.
