Issues Exporting GPS Points from Garmin unit

Hello,

I'm having issues with exporting points from my Garmin etrex Legend H in Garmin Basecamp. I keep getting a window pop-up when attempting to export the data. I've tried this on multiple computers but keep getting this same pop-up. Thanks for any suggestions.

  • I'm confused. That's a file on your c drive and not your Etrex. Either way the file is too large for BaseCamp to use. Where did it come from?

  • You could try downloading to an empty list in BaseCamp and exporting the list.  After exporting, use the "remove and delete unique content" to remove new data and then remove the list to restore BaseCamp to the same state as before the download.

  • Oh I believe that that's the name of the file that I was trying to create and the location where I was saving it to, attempting to export from the Garmin Etrex to my desktop.

There isn't an inordinate amount of data on the GPS unit, which is why I'm confused that the program is saying the file is too large.

  • I did try that - I moved the data from the GPS unit to an empty list in Basecamp and tried exporting it that way and got the same window pop up saying the file was too large or there was not enough memory.

  • The next thing I would try is to create a 2nd empty list.  Select approximately half of your data, use the send command to send it to the 2nd list and the remove command to remove it from the 1st list.  Try exporting each list.  If both lists fail to export, try exporting a single item.

I suspect that there is something wrong with one of the items and it is causing the error.  I'm surprised that the download to BaseCamp didn't throw an error.

Are these just waypoints or a combination of waypoints, tracks and routes?
