Basecamp 4.7.4 crashes when sending route to internal storage of zumo660

When sending a route to the internal storage of my zumo660, basecamp just crashes,

This is 100% reproducible.

Sending the same rout to the external storage (SD card) works fine.

Also sending waypoints and tracks to the internal storage of the zumo660 works fine.

  • Strange. What happens if you then manually copy the .gpx file of the route from the sd card to your device, does that work?

And is it just one specific route or any route?

  • I just tested the same use case with my 2nd zumo660 device. Here it works like expected.

So, this seems to be no Basecamp issue, it's a problem with my zumo660 device.

The error message from Basecamp is:

    GDXCARD_MAPSDATABASE.CPP-195-4.7.4.0
    No maps found in image.
    Image: J:/GARMIN/GMAPBMAP.IMG

The file "GMAPBMAP.IMG" is different on my 2 devices, so I copied the one from the good device to my other one --> now it words well.

Strange. It seems like my basemap was broken.

Is there a way to get the old zumo 660 back to the factory defaults, including also the map files?   OR are all basemap the same and I can use the one of my newer zumo 660?

  • Hi ,

The problem occurs with any route, no matter how big it is.

I can copy a .gpx file into the garmin/gpx folder, this is recognized at the next start as new user data and can be imported. But it calculated again, which is not the case if I can send it directly to the internal memory

  • Any basemap will do so I'd leave as is.

  • Final conclusion

    • read the error message from Basecamp carefully, it will give a good hint what went wrong
    • Always make a backup of all data from a new device directly after unboxing
