change starting point of a track

Hello all, I have an imported gpx track, it's a ring route, I need to change the starting point (move it to another existing point in the ring), this because I need to join this track to another track and the join tool connects them from the starting point.

Now the starting point is on the red circle, I want to move it to the green circle because I want to join the green track.

Thank to all.

  • If it's a ring there is no starting point. So split the ring at the green point then join the tracks.

  • Thanks for reply, if I try to join this two tracks the green one is attached to the red circle because it's the first point of the ring track and I don't want this....

  • Then as I said split the track at the green point ... and then join the tracks

Your track is probably not be a complete ring.  There is probably a start point and an end point very close together at the red circle.  Zoom right in to check this.

If this is the case then the green track will join to a point at the red circle with a straight line depending on the direction of travel of the tracks and in which order you select the tracks to join them.

As Sussamb said, split the black track at the green point.  It's easier if you zoom right in to split the black track  You will now have two black tracks and two points on top of each other where you made the split.  Move one of the points slightly so you have a small gap.  That just makes it easier to select the right point when you want to join the green track.

Now join the points of the black track at the red point.  If you get a straight line across the ring you've selected them in the wrong order.  You have to select them in the right order of the direction of travel.

Now zoom in again to where you want to join the points of the green track and black track.  Again, if you get a straight line joining the wrong ends of the tracks, you've selected them in the wrong order.  You can also invert the direction of one or both of the tracks to create one track in the desired direction of travel.
