I used Basecamp software in 3D mode with my Edge Explore device many-many times. One day Garmin sent an update for Cycle map of Europe (which is the initial stock map) which divided the map into 3 sections: West, Central, East. Before that there were only two sections, and 3D mode worked just fine with both.
Since the update 3D mode only works for Central Europe segment. For West and East it still switches into 3D mode without error messages, but the image stays the same unrendered flat image as it is in 2D mode.
I noticed that the file names are completely different from the central Europe section, I suspect the reference in the DEM file is incorrect, and not updated to the new file names so the software is unable to fetch the data. Customer Support suggested that I had a subscription that expired, but I could doubt that easily, I had no subscriptions at all. I am unable to find any subscriptions that would refer to such a service. Plus on top of that, 3D works perfect on Cenrtral section. An other result of communication with Support was that it is a map data error related to the Company providing this to Garmin, so Garmin is unable to do anything about it. This was a very strange reaction, leaving me with the option of sending error reports via Basecamp error report sending function, with no feedback at all from that... I did that for a while, but after about 4-6 months and no change and no contact I'd like to ask you to revise this issue.
Today I wasted 50 EEuros on one of your other products to solve this issue. I purchased topo active Europe map from your website. I thought if it is like what Support suggested, and it is a map data error than if I purchase one of your other products that will solve the problem. Well, believe it or not, but topography map of Europe if flat as well. Different datapack, but same issue. However the format of the downloaded files are the very same as the segments of Cycle map of Europe's. When I say format I am not referring to the file extension, rather the file name format. It is identical, a line of numbers insrtead of characters from the ABC. I am sure there is nothing wrong with the data provided by the map data provider, it must be the DEM file on my device. I alredy tried to re-download the Cycle map of Europe to make sure all my files are updated, but it did not make any change. Central Europe map file - perfect 3D imagery, the rest stays 2D with changeable viewing angle. It just simply just not fetches 3D data for rendering.
Please tell me something how could I get back the 3D mode in the Easter Europen region. I live here, I bike here on a daily basis and 3D mode helps me a lot to discover new places. I go only once for 2 weeks to central Europe region in a year for Holiday, it is almost completely unnecessary to have this option available. I also like to ask what should I do with the topt map? Its not just the same as Cycle map, but its not working either...
