Route won't follow roads

It would be worth you reviewing this excellent tutorial on Routing with BaseCamp written by the New England Riders who are motorcyclists: https://www.newenglandriders.org/learn-basecamp/ which should sort out this issue.

Looks like the map you're using isn't routeable or you have direct activity selected. As Eyelet99 posted you may benefit from reading the tutorial he linked to. I know you say you have motor cycling selected but is that what is showing in the route properties?

How can it not be routable? 2023.1 is the latest update...

My options are set this way. I've also tried the standard Motorcycle, Car, ATV and Dirt Bike profiles.

I said either or. If the CN map is selected its routeable but I can't see whether its selected or not from your screenshot. However in your latest screenshot click on the properties tab. What does it show there top right about the activity selected?

Are you able to attach the .gpx file so we can look at the file, I can run it on the CN NA map

The None choice usually requires a recalculation on the Properties tab.  If a recalculation doesn't work or changing the Activity on the properties tab fails, try re-installing the map on your computer.

When you change the Route Options to Customize, the Activity Profile on the Properties tab is changed to None, so that's not it. I only have two maps installed 2022.25 and 2023.1, both of which are routable. If the Global Map was selected, I wouldn't see any minor roads at all. Each time I change the activity profile, the recalculated route shows the same thing. 

That may be the issue. Try going to Edit, Options and making changes to the relevant activity profile there. That way you won't get None in the properties tab.

When you change parameters on the Route Options tab on the Properties pop-up window shown in your post you need to hit the recalculation button on Properties tab.  If it did an automatice recaclulation, it would do it every time you changed a  parameter - which would be really annoying. 

You can also checked your via points in the properties tab to make sure none are set to Direct - double click on a point and check the setting above the OK button.

I've tried that also; usually it recalculates by itself. And you're right, it is annoying. I think the problem is with my original track. It was not created by my BaseCamp or my GPS, and is quite sparse. Basically only intersections are marked, the roads are quite curvy, and the distance between points is fairly long. The Activity Profile has no effect, it's treating almost every segment as direct. The only way I can overcome this is it I add additional points to it by shaping it to the roads.
