Auto Route Recalculate

I can’t find a Garmin satnav forum other than the Zumo forum so I’ll ask my question here; forgive me if I am in the wrong place.
I plan all my routes in Basecamp (Windows 11) and transfer them to my satnav. I have a DriveSmart65 and a Zumo590 and previously a Zumo 550. In both Zumos I could ‘turn off’ auto route recalculate but I can’t do this on the DriveSmart65. This is infuriating when I’ve taken the time and trouble to plan a route and the satnav ignores it.
My question is which Garmin satnavs allow you to turn off auto route recalculate?
I’ve tried most workarounds that have been suggested but none of them are particularly convenient to use. I have also had absolutely no response from Garmin support. I’m sticking with the Zumo590 but I do like some of the more up to date features of the Drivesmart65. I need something with the best of both.

    Well a satnav doesn't ignore the route, but if you deviate from it then it does what most folks want, it gets you back to the route by calculating a route to the next via or shaping point. If you don't like the way your satnav works you need to insert more via or shaping points so it has less options. However this forum is about BaseCamp and not device issues.
