Deleting old Large Garmin Map Images?

When I update my Garmin GPS I also load the map onto my Windows PC for use in Basecamp.

Using the Windows app deletion I have always deleted older maps that have been preceded by the update to save disk space. I only have the most recent map installed in Basecamp.

However, when I search for large files, I find these huge Garmin .img 1-4 GB files that appear to be old maps. See the attached search result.

Can these .img Garmin files be safely deleted save for the most recent without impact to Basecamp?

surprising these didnt delete when the map was uninstalled. I deleted them and revealed huge amounts of storage on my SSD. Id guess 100GB.

Those files are separate to the map files installed to your PC for BaseCamp to use. Uninstalling a map only removes the files put there for BaseCamp and not the data in CoreService/Downloads
