I created a route in Basecamp for a backcountry backpacking trip, with specific intentions to upload it to my Fenix 5xPro. Actually, I created half of the route using the Hiking activity where routable trails existed and plotted the other half in Direct activity profile where I intend to bushwack and then joined the two routes.
They appear to be in good order for use in the Fenix.
As backup I exported the route from Basecamp and imported to Explore so I can have it in my InReach Mini and access via Garmin Earthmate on my home. Once imported to Explore the route became unusable. The section that was plotted using Hiking activity profile imported as Direct and no longer follows the trail.
I can't see a way to modify the route so it follows the trail. In fact, I now see the map in Explore doesn't show the trails at all.
In an emergency, this would give me a rough idea where I am, but as a navigation tool, it's useless.
