Zumo XT set routs dont follow the road.

When I plan a rout in base camp for my Zumo XT in BaseCamp they follow the road as required but once the rout is loaded into the Zumo the rout is straight lines away from the road I want to follow. These are designated roads not off-road tracks. This is very frustrating and distracting when riding a motorbike. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

  • Which map are you plotting this route on in BaseCamp? What map is being used in your Zumo? Can you post a screenshot so we can see what you mean by 'straight lines away from the road'.

Given the lack of detail in your post it's difficult to be sure what is happening but it sounds like you are using different maps.

  • On the Zumo the maps are Overlander World Wide 2022.40 Topoactive power sport Aus and NZ. 2021.10 and Australia and New Zealand 2022.20 same as Base Camp. The 2 images are what appear in basecamp and as transferred to the Zumo same route.

  • Ok, I now see the problem. First, are you calculating the route in BaseCamp on the same map that you have selected on the Zumo? Second, ensure the only map you have selected on the Zumo is the one you used. If you have multiple maps selected that causes issues. Check Settings, Map & Vehicles, myMaps.

Next, check routing settings on your Zumo isn't set to Off Road, see Settings, Navigation, Calculation Mode.  If it is choose fastest or shortest.  If set to one of the other options, Faster or Shortest, select the other which will force a recalculation. Do you still get straight lines?

  • These are the maps ticked on my Zumo should they all be ticked and can you tell me what is the difference between them all please.

  • I have been through all the settings. The map used on BaseCamp without the Zumo attached is City Navigator Australia & New Zealand NT 2021.3 HERE. This is the only version in BaseCamp. The map on the Zumo is CN Aus & NZ 2022.20 HERE ALL. When the Zumo is connected to I have the option of City Navigator Australia & New Zealand-HERE. I have had  micro SD cards fitted but this Zumo makes them unreadable and they have been removed so all I have now is the Internal Storage.

In the photos below you can see the map from BaseCamp is OK but the same map in Zumo has lines going every which way. It is extremely frustrating

    .

  • Well that screenshot helps as it's typical of the problem.  It goes back to your earlier screen, and my comment about multiple maps being selected causing issues, you need to deselect the TopoActive map which I suspect isn't routeable, or it is and you've used that map in BaseCamp to create the route in which case you need to deselect the CN map.

If after that the lines are still present then force a recalculation of the route on your Zumo, or delete it and send it again from BaseCamp.

  • I just realised I haven’t thanked you for all your assistance so far I do apologise for that and want you to know it is very much appreciated as I am at a total loss with this thing. Thank you. Do I need to keep the-HERE  parkopedia active and if so what does it do. Cheers Allen

  • That 'map' isn't really a map, it's parking locations. That can stay active.

As you have a Zumo you may benefit from joining this forum  www.zumouserforums.co.uk/

  • Once again thank you for all your help the Zumo is working perfectly now thanks to your advice. The route tracking is spot on. And yes I will join. Regards Allen.
