How do I remove via points from a Basecamp route so that it isn't divided when transferred to my Smart Drive 61?

Not sure what you mean. You can delete points in BaseCamp but that may affect the route or replace them with shaping points, but what do you mean by route being divided?
I created a route going up the east coast from Okeechobee Fl. to Chantilly Va. using all secondary roads (no interstate highways) with a total of 1139 miles. When I load it into my Smart Drive 61 I get a message saying that the route has more than 29 via points and the route gets divided into 3 shorter segments.
Ah ok. You need to reduce the number of viapoints as 29 is the maximum. You really only need viapoints for things you must visit, eg food or petrol stops. Convert everything else to shaping points as you can have hundreds of those, up to 125 between viapoints
THANK YOU !!!! I just got rid of a whole bunch of little blue flags !!!
My next question is, if I select remove all shaping points and only leave the via points at each end of the route will the route remain as planned?
Can't answer that without seeing the route but unlikely. Why would you wish to do so?
Basically just curious. Trying to learn more about telling the GPS where I want to go instead of it telling me. Did a lot of traveling on motorcycles and were very seldom on any major highways. Still like doing it that way even though its in a vehicle now. THANKS AGAIN !!!! Have learned a little more about the Base Camp program.
Something to be aware of is that you can't navigate to a shaping point. If you divert from the route then want to return to it you can't select a shaping point as a point to pick it up from. Either strategically place as many via points as you can along the route, with shaping points in between, or create multiple routes. IMHO, one route per day is the way to go if you plan your overnight stops.
Thanks Peobody, that's something I need to keep in mind.
