Wierd basecamp route after downloading to Garming GPSmap65s

Dear all,

I just purchase a GPSMAP65s and try to use Basecamp.

I have download an OpenStreetMap to my GPS from BaseCamp

Then I have define a test root that I define in Basecamp.

Then I send the Test root to my device

Then I start my device then go to FIND > ROUTE and select my Test trace to GO.

What I have notice is that in BaseCamp, my route are perfectly draw above route BUT when I look at the root on my device after transfert, at some point the root is completely off road on real area you cannot go

Any idea what could be this lack of precision after downloading the route to my device ?

Looks like your GPS isn't set to route on roads, change the setting and all should be well

Sorry I am new in this, I juste get it and not easy first time to set it up correctly

Where is this settng to set the GPS to route on road ?

Does it means that when I want to go on mountains for instance I need to have this setting as well like route on road for hiking or I should use an other setting ?

No, it's a bit strange but if you've created the route by allowing BaseCamp to follow roads, tracks etc on a routeable map you need to set routing on your device to 'on road' even though if you're walking you are more likely on tracks. You set it to off road only if you are following a point to point route.

I see, I will update those setting and give an other try.

Do you have expereince with garmin map.
In fact I am mainly get this GPS for hiking in know area or climbing in mountains where sometimes you need to go off road.

I have seen that Garmin is providing a so call Garmin Topo Mountains, do you have any idea how those map looks like and what type of informaton did they display?

I have send an email to garmin but seems their support is really poor as most users says...

No sorry, don't use that map, exactly what is the map called?
