Basecamp Use in the US?

I just got Basecamp for use with a brand new Zumo XT but unless I'm missing something really basic, it is completely unusable for, well, anything. I can't search for ANY addresses. If I zoom in to try to pick a point, the map completely disappears at anything less that 50 miles wide views. It is utterly unusable so, tell me, what am I missing here? I need to be able to define intricate routes for my XT but lacking a functioning interface, I can't and will have to return it otherwise.

I think you are just using the base map. You need to either connect your XT to your computer via USB cable so Basecamp can read the map on the XT, or a much better solution is to use Garmin Express to…

You should check out New England Riders Basecamp tutorial. If you follow the tutorial step by step you can be creating the most complex routes in a couple of hours.
