Number of items BaseCamp can manage

I have problems with BaseCamp. It often crashes or loops.
I have a big database. Its backup is over 1GB. Is my database too big?

What are the limits of number of items BaseCamp can manage?

I've never seen anything giving the maximum size of a BaseCamp database. Have you tried creating a new database and running BaseCamp with that to see if it still crashes etc? May also be worth an uninstall and reinstall of BaseCamp
