Trail question

New to the Garmin 64s.

I have trying to learn about tracks, I use the garmin for hunting and scouting. I want to learn how to mark deer travel routes.

So I have some questions. I need to leave my GPS on when Im wondering the forest to be able to navigate to my waypoints I already have logged into the device. If I am not travelling on a deer trail I want to mark to I go into the device and turn off the record track feature in track manager? Then when I come upon a trail I wish to log and document I go back into track manager and turn the record feature back on until I come to the end of the trail I wish to record? Or do I just leave it on and "delete current track" and start a new with the track I wish to doument?

Then when I am done for the day I save the track, and then when Im back in the forest again I go into saved tracks and reopen the track and rinse and repeat?

What happens when I archive a track? I did that today with tracks I have been making to try to learn the ins and outs while walking my dog. When I archived the track it did not save it in the same colour I had made the track in. I made the track in Cyan and it saved it in red.... thats an issue as I need ot be able to distiguish between game trails and entry and exit paths for me.

Thank you in advance.
