MapSource won't find my Garmin RV770

MapSource won't find my RV770 but Garmin Express and Basecamp will. It has been noted here several times if you cant upload a route/trip in Basecamp use MapSource.

Well MapSource does not find my 770

Does anyone have any suggestions.

I use and like Basecamp but when i want to take a trip and not follow the interstate highways or go through down down of a large city, I can not upload a route/trip. I have to upload the waypoints and shaping points then connect them on the 770..

I would really like someone to fix the upload problem between Basecamp and the GPS

MapSource will only work with devices that are in mass storage mode. By default recent Garmin on the road devices are in mtp mode. Switch it to mass storage mode and it'll work with MapSource.

Thanks for the reply.. Howeve Where do I find the mtp mode ?? I did not know about that.. Also will that effect my connection with Basecamp.. I use Basecamp all the time but can't up load a route/trip..

Thank you... This seemed to correct the problems I have been having earlier.

I posted earlier that I was having a problem uploading a route/trip to my RV770. It would turn on up to the "Agree" button then turn off. I would start the 770 again and it did not upload the route/trip. With the above note to change to the Mass Transfer Protocol it will now upload my trips and It works with MapSource. This is good information. When I upload to the 770 and I disconnect it from my Windows 10 computer launch the 770 and go to the trips app I see the swirl indicating that it is processing. After about 2 minutes the trip then appears in the trip app.

I have one more question but I will also make a new post concerning it. Lately my 770 seems to work real slow after I downloaded the newest Map 2022.1. I'm sure that the storage memory is getting larger with the new maps having more information each time we upload it. Is there a way to start using the 32MB chip I inserted in the RV770?? This could allow it to run some what faster.

No, but you could if you wish copy the map across but it won't help if your device isn't working as fast as before. Best bet is to master reset your device.
