Basecamp Initialization hangs on Checking - Geotagged photos

I am using Basecamp version 4.7 on a Windows 10 laptop.

For years it has operated fine. But now Basecamp does not start up.

Its initialization hangs on "Checking - Geotagged Photos" indefinitely.

When I delete the AllData.gdb from %appdata%\Garmin\Basecamp\Database\4.7 or replace it with  the AllData.gdb from a prevoius 4.6 installation it opens fine.

But of course without the tracks and routes I made lately.

Dumb of me not to make a backup regularly but here I am.

Is there any way to fix the gdb-file ?

Btw the AllData.gdb.bak file is of no use here as it is a one-on-one copy of the gdb-file

Ok, let me put it another way. The way I see it is that on initialisation Basecamp tries to connect to %USERPROFILE%\AppData\Roaming\Garmin\BaseCamp\GeotaggedPhotos.

It expects geotagged photos here. But if for whatever reason one or more photos are missing it can't find them here and the programs hangs.

Please correct me if I am wrong.

Is the re a way to open the AllData.gdb in order to find and delete the references to the missing files?
