Importing a GPX file from Polaris Ride Command into Basecamp - "is not a valid GPX file". What is wrong with it? Note: works with Google Earth

Here is the file.

I ran your GPX file through FIT File Repair Tool with no changes and it automatically repaired the file. At least I was able to then import this into Basecamp.

Thanks but I just ran a "diff" on that file and there are no differences. Can you see what you think has changed as it still doesn't load.

A standard GPX file should not have .txt file extension. Try uploading the .gpx file (having removed the .txt extension) into the online tool GPSVisualizer and converting it to a GPX and download the result. This usually will produce a GPX file that BaseCamp will import. If it loads okay, you can compare the two xml files and see what GPSVisualizer has changed. BaseCamp can be sometimes be picky about accepting GPX files not created on Garmin devices.

I just changed the filename so I could upload it as this forum tool denied .gpx extension. On further investigation Garmin did not like

Ah, that explains it! If you can open your file in Google Earth, then another route is to you save it (Save Place As...) to produce either a KMZ or a KML file and import this into BaseCamp - it will read both.
