Update to 4.7.3 (Win10) Overwriting Data

Hello,

This morning I was prompted to update Basecamp to 4.7.3, which I did.

Upon opening after update, I found that all of my data was gone. This looks like it was a clean install (which I did not choose - I simply did the in-app update as recommended by the pop-up window).

I have inspected all associated folders and it appears that the update completely overwrote all files (and I mean ALL of them), as these files now show creation date is today.

I have done extensive searches on my machine and the "old" data is no longer here.

Fortunately I backup my data so that is not a problem. However, if I did not have a backup, this would have been a minor "disaster".

Why would the update do this?

I am on a Win 10 Pro machine, version 2004, build 19041.630

That's unusual behaviour but I haven't updated to 4.7.3. Even so no one else has reported this. Was your data in the normal default directory? Even a clean install of BaseCamp doesn't overwrite data. When you searched how did you do it? Did you search for Alldata.gdb?

Hi all, I ran into the same issue when I updated. But routes for certain years are missing... so looks like I lost 3 years of tracking data. Restoring backup from previous versions does not show the routes... I tried going back to a 6 month backup. Did this version change something with how the files are saved or routes... Regards Heidar

Yes, and it was because, as I suggested above, BaseCamp wasn't pointed at the correct database location.

I agree this is unusual behaviour.

My data was located in the normal default directory. As I said, all the files were in their proper location - they had simply been "overwritten", with the creation and modification dates now showing the day of the program update.

I believe what happened was that I received the "corrupt data" popup and, as I was updating early in the AM prior to a sufficient amount of coffee, I selected the repair option without paying attention. If that was the case, I understand why data was missing, but I am still a bit perplexed why it appears that there was a clean install. Would/does a repair operation cause this?

I did do an exhaustive search of my machine for any garmin-related files, backups, db files, etc...no dice. The only files were the "new" versions located in the normal default directory.
