Fenix 5 is only party recognized in Basecamp: only Map but no track and waypoints and impossible to up-load or down load gpx files

Solutions ?

  • Use Garmin Connect to create a "Course" under "Training". Export or save track as gpx out of Basecamp and import the gpx file into Garmin Connect using the "Course" dialog. You can then synch it to your Fenix. Us the Navigation Activity to view or use. Garmin Connect gives you the ability to export your gpx file once you have uploaded the activity.

I know how to use Garmin Connect but as I am also using other GPS (GPAMAP66st) and also because I have more than 10 years Database in BaseCamp, I would like to use BaseCamp also with my Fenix 5 !

Why do I get this error message and How to correct it ?

  • The issue I believe is that the Fenix is generating fit files and not gpx. The 66 series does allow you to select output to either fit, gpx, or both. So a matter of exporting your tracks from Garmin Connect to gpx and archiving to your Basecamp database that way. Does your 66 interface with Basecamp well? I am looking at the 66sr to replace my old 62s. Some of my reasons over the 65 is that it will interface with Garmin Connect and my InReach and can export fit and or gpx files. I plan on using it for hikes, motorcycling and off road mapping in my 4x4.

The Interface with BaseCamp is OK with the 66st I am using. I use it for velo, ski-alpinism and trekking all over the world; all the basic functions are OK. The reliability of the connected functions is not satisfactory. Bluetooth  connection is not stable and with the actual version of the OS I can no more use the WI-FI !
