etrex 10 question about base camp maps

this is what i would like to accomplish

1. i would like to use a detailed map to plan my route

2. i would like to create waypoints for my trip on the map

3. move the waypoints to my etrex 10.

….i have been looking at base camp. seems to only have major streets . is there detailed maps for base camp.

in other words would like to create waypoints before actually having to go there

BaseCamp only comes with a basemap. It will read maps installed to connected devices, which the Etrex 10 won't have. You can also install maps to your PC for Garmin to use. These can either be Garmin maps, which are quite costly, or freely available and free OSM maps. Try googling OSM maps for Garmin or ask here for suggestions, if the latter explain in more detail which area you need, and what you use your Etrex for.
