How GPX files are managed by the GPS

Hi,

My question is about how GPX files are managed by a GPS unit (and not by the human operator) particularly the Etrex 22x. I am posting this here because I cannot find a place in the forum for general questions.

So here is the daily routine:

1. Turn the GPS on while making sure that device is tracking

2. Operator carries with him his GPS while moving around in his vehicle

3. Operator marks notable events/location with waypoints

4. When returning home, GPS is turned off

5. The next day, the cycle is repeated

6. After a week, the GPX data is downloaded

Here are my questions:

1. Will there be only one gpx file that will contain track data for the multiple days the gps was used for tracking?

2. Will there be only one gpx file for all the waypoints that was created?

3. What are the conditions that will cause the gps to create a new gpx file ( for both tracks and waypoints)?

4. Is it possible to have a gpx file that will contain both track and named waypoints?

Thanks for the help

Raffy
