Problem with waypoints on Nuvi 42

I've created a route with 2 waypoints in Basecamp for Windows, and 'sent to device' - the device is a Nuvi 42.  On the Nuvi 42, I go to 'Where to', then 'Favourites' and choose the ultimate destination from the list.  The route and the 2 waypoints appear on the screen - except that the calculated route doesn't go through the waypoints.  How do I make the calculated route go via the waypoints?

    Yours is an older and very basic model and it doesn't have a trip planner app, so while you can send it routes from BaseCamp it can't use them.  The only way you have to create a route is on the device itself.  Select the final destination and hit Go.  Once your nuvi has calculated the route if you wish to add a point where you want the route to visit do another Where to and select it, you'll be asked if you want to start a new route or add it to the existing route.

    Many thanks.  The waypoints were actually imported and are also available as destinations in 'favourites', so I was able to manually add them to the route quite easily in the way you described.  If I want to avoid doing that, I'll need to buy a better SatNav model.
