Installed .gmap displays in basecamp but not in install to device list

I have successfully installed an unlocked .gmap into Basecamp. It displays fine. When I go to install it into my Garmin Montana 700i, it does not show as an available map to install. What is going on? does the .gmap have to be converted to image files first? How is that done?

Where did you get the unlocked map from? It's possible you're being prevented from installing it because it's not authorised for your Montana. You could try running JaVaWa's GMTK program to see what it says about the map.
