What OS are you using? I suspect those discs are quite old and may not run on windows any longer.
Garmin, like so many other manufacturers seem to make it difficult to ask this sort of question so many thanks for your reply.
I'm using Windows 10. If they won't work is there a modern alternative that will? If there is the next question is how do I obtain it or do I just giove up and go to analternative GPS and mapping system?
What Garmin device do you have? Many devices will enable you to use their maps in BaseCamp.
The device I have is a Camper 660LMT - D which certainely works because I used it last weekend but I have no Garmin maps on my computer which I assume would allow me to plan journeys. Looking back in my Email records I found a number of entry’s on Garmin such as my registration and a mention of "Garmin Express" which I don't appear to have and I have no idea how to obtain it or install it or if its still valid. It looks as though I need to go right back to the Garmin beginning but looking into the Email messages I have raises doubts as to whether I’ve selected the right device.
Download Garmin Express, link it to your device then select the Option to install map to PC, Express handles the map and software updates for your device.
Forget the discs as you don't need them. Download Express to your PC. Connect your 660 to your PC and add it to Express, you can then use Express to install the map on your 660 to your PC so that you have the same map on both.
Many thanks for the advice. It took a little while to find the appropriate place to ask them to download Express but it did in the end and now I'm off to bed as its nearly midnight in England. I see the downloading is now updating. One last question. Could you please tell me how I can use the Desktop computer to allow me to use the Garmin maps to build a rout?
Many, many thanks for your help.
Brian
You'll need to install Garmin BaseCamp. As you posted in the BaseCamp forum I assumed you'd already done that.
