Hello Garmin Software Engineers.
For some time now, while testing with many Garmin GPSr, I have been having an issue where BaseCamp 4720 crashes within about a minute of connecting any GPSr with Garmin Adventure data stored on the device microSD card. This has been well documented in other Garmin device specific forums (originally thought it was a device issue), but I wanted to also post here in the BaseCamp forum, as it seems ever more clear this is a BaseCamp issue.
Not all Adventures will cause BaseCamp to crash, but most do.
Simply removing the microSD\Garmin\Adventures\ directory from the microSD card resolves the issue, but also makes the Adventures unusable on the device.
Also, moving the Adventure data to the device from the microSD card seems to resolve the crash also, but this is not an ideal solution for many reasons.
This has been tested with many GPSr (Montana 7x0, GPSMAP 66, Oregon 7x0, etc.) and using multiple microSD card brands and sizes (SanDisk, Samsung, 32GB, 16GB, etc.), always with the same results.
