Help: making route from tracks

I’m using a drivesmart 65 gps and want to make a route from my tracks. I have a worksite I go to that is on and off road to get to. The tracks on the unit show the path I drive so I connected the device to basecamp, found the appropriate track and chose create route from track. Everything looked good in base amp but when I send it to the drive smart it only routes me to the point the road ends and then just draws a straight line. Is there a way to fix this so I can share the actual route with others? If not, Is there a way to share the track with another Garmin so maybe it can’t be “navigated/routed” but can be followed on screen?

  • Simple answer is no.  While your GPS can record tracks it cannot read them, converting them to routes as you've done enables it to do so, but then it needs a map that has that route in its data otherwise you get the straight line you're seeing.  The only way forward would be to install a map that will route along the off road portion.
