Plotting a route in Basecamp just producing straight lines?

While trying to create an ATV route in Basecamp I'm simply getting straight lines between points. I created a route yesterday and it followed the tracks exactly.....what has changed?

I'm using the same map as yesterday, and following the same methods.

Well something will have changed, either a different map or different activity. If you're using the same map what activity is selected?

Exactly the same as yesterday.....ATV.....and exactly the same map! I'm wondering if certain areas of the map have not been set up to enable routing with Basecamp, but this seems highly unlikely?

Very, but you could check by trying in an area that worked. More likely the map doesn't cover the area you're now using.

Unlikely SUSSAMB....it's a digital map of the whole Province of BC Canada....and yes....this works on some other areas of the map.....completely puzzled!! Have contacted the map manufacturer to see if they can offer any input.

Be interesting to hear what they say. You could try JaVaWas GMTK or Device Manager (depending on whether the map is being read from PC or device) and use them to confirm the map coverage www.javawa.nl/jdm_en.html

Thanks....not very computer literate so not sure how to use either ....maps being read from PC.

Then you need GMTK. You just download it and run it. It will check all the maps on your PC then you just select the relevant one and select the Check coverage icon, it's very simple.

Thank you SUSSAMB.....appreciate the help. I've now discovered through trial and error that the smaller more obscure trails will not allow Basecamp to route them with this set of digital maps. it appears then to be a mapping issue and not Basecamp. I will try GMTK.

Ah so it's a map issue then, GMTK won't be able to help with that. It's the problem with some maps that not everything you see is in the map data as routeable, so when it's not BaseCamp can't route along it.
